Saddle stapling or saddle stitching as it is also known, refers to a very popular book binding method in which folded sheets are gathered together one inside the other and then stapled through the fold line with wire staples. Known as saddle stapling due to the way in which it reflects saddling a horse, the document being stapled is hung over the saddle before being stitched.
There are a number of machines available that achieve this style of stapled outcome and they are available in both manual or more heavy duty electric models. The most common machine on the market is probably the Rapid 106 which replaced the popular 101, these bench mounted solutions offer a quick, reliable and easy way to produce saddle stapled documents. The Rapid range also have the ability to flat pad staple by tilting the table making them very popular within a whole host of environments from print to manufacturing.
