Vacuumatic tabbing machines are precision tab insertion systems designed for highly accurate online counting, batching, and waste marking in the printing, paper, and packaging industries.
Typically mounted at the delivery end of printing presses, sheeters, or die cutters, these machines physically inject paper tape tabs into a stack of paper at user-defined intervals to separate batches, isolate waste, and prevent delivery errors (such as under- or over-supplies).
The Vacuumatic range includes specialized models for various production scales:
- VUTI: The flagship universal model used for large offset presses and sheeters.
- CUTI: A compact, cost-effective option optimized for smaller offset printing presses.
- SMART 1: A specialized system designed to plug directly into third-party camera inspection or PLC counting systems.
- MTI: A miniature, magnetic-mount tabber built for extremely tight spaces inside die cutters and presses
CUTI is an ideal tabbing machine for small offset printing presses, whereas VUTI is used for large offset printing presses and for sheeters.
UTI is a sheeter, controlled through PLCs.
The Smart 1 and MTI tabbers or tab inserters have different roles, the former is usually integrated with a camera inspection system or programmable logic controller or PLC and the latter is a small compact tab inserter for integration into printing presses and die cutters.
Tab inserters have a variety of uses for in the printing industry for instance:
- Batch marking & Tabbing
- Ream counting
- Creating sets
- On line counting and batching
