Automated Guillotines
Choosing the Right Automated GuillotinesWe offer a complete range of automated guillotines also known as Cutter/Creasers or Slit/Cut/Crease (SCC) machines. Fully automated finishing solutions including the award winning Duplo DC616 and Duplo DC616 Pro as well as our own brand Multi-Card Elite.Automated guillotines or full all in one finishing devices have become common place in the print environment over the last decade. The trend was started with simple automated business card production machinery based around desktop designs for A4 and SRA3 sheets. These early machines used a fixed template or pattern of either 10 up and 21 up business cards in the standard 55 x 85mm setup to quickly and accurately produce hundreds of cards per hour, taking many hours of work away from the guillotine operators. These simple solutions where quickly expanded with multiple configurations enabling them to produce other card sizes. This posed the question – Why buy separate cutting and creasing machines when you can do both (and much more!) with an automated Cutter Creaser? These systems can be utilised as a business card cutter, a dedicated guillotine, a paper creaser, a perforator, and a rotary die cutter. Save money, save time, expand your capabilities and benefit from…
Paper Drills
Choosing the Right Paper DrillsWe work alongside one of the leading manufacturers of Paper Drilling and Paper Handling Equipment including Uchida, SPC and NAGEL.Paper drilling is a method to drill holes through paper, card and other materials such as tags or sample swatches. For this purpose, hollow paper drill bits are clamped into a driven spindle which drills in to the paper. Paper drill bits are available, from The Finishing Point Ltd (TFP), for different hole sizes and in different coating qualities. Unlike hole punching, where only one or a few sheets may be processed, a large number of sheets can be processed with a paper drilling machine.Depending on the type of paper drill either the paper drill bits are lowered in to the pile, either driven or by pulling a handle, or the table is pneumatically lifted to the heads and the pile is drilled. The latter method is known as Powerstroke.Paper drilling machines can be equipped with a different number of spindles which are each built in to one paper drill head. The range starts with one and two spindle paper drills for small volumes and office purposes and reaches up to paper drilling platforms with more than…

In many cases by simply discarding paperwork you may be throwing away the “lifeblood” of your company.Sales ForecastsBusiness ProposalsFuture PlansResearch DataCustomer DatabasesP&L SheetsStaff Personal DataAddressesSalariesAll information that would be very interesting to your competitors and could possibly cost you millions of pounds if it were to fall into the wrong hands.Price Waterhouse states that:Fortune 1000 Companies lost more than $45,000,000,000 (45 Billion) in 1999 due to theft of their proprietary information alone! It’s little wonder therefore if we make life so easy for potential thieves that IDENTITY THEFT, CORPORATE FRAUD and INDUSTRIAL ESPIONAGE are increasing at alarming rates. Legal Binding Machines
Legal Document BindingSurebind and Velobind are primarily the same book binding method, they look identical when complete. Surebind uses a 10 hole punching pattern with matching consumables while Velobind uses a 12 Hole punching pattern with matching consumables. The other main difference with the Surebind is that the Binding Strip or Comb has a longer pin at one end, this indicates the orientation that the bind should be completed, for some this makes them easier to use. Both the Surebind and Velobind use a pair of Plastic Strips bound together to create the bind. One half of the strip has the prongs, this is known as the Comb, the other part, known as the receiving strip has matching holes to the prongs. Each pair of strips is available in a variety of colours and have a textured finish, providing a leather look appearance. Why Choose Legal Document Binding MachinesSurebind and Velobind are more of a permanent bind than Comb, Wire or Coil binding solutions. They produce a document that is riveted together using the Plastic Comb and Receiving Strip consumable. Basically the range of machines all complete the same task, each having slightly more automation and speed than its predecessor. The punching…
High Volume Paper Punching Machines
High Volume Paper Punching MachinesIn today’s super fast print environments it is often the simplest jobs that slow down our production capabilities, simple tasks such as wire binding or coil binding should be done with ease and speed. However, for most companies that is not the case due to outdated and unproductive machinery that simply can produce what you expect in a given time. Our range of High Volume Paper Punching Machines offer an immediate increase in productivity. Paper punching is often the bottleneck in any book binding setup as often office or standard combination machines will only punch up to around 15 to 20 sheets in each cycle, when your document is over 200 pages this quickly become laborious and that is just for one document. What if you have over 100 documents to produce before lunch time and you are only given the files at 9 am which is a common practice within the corporate environment. It is not always about the volume of book binding you do, in many cases volume is not the problem but the time given to produce the document is, this is where high volume punching machines step in.High Volume Punching Machines for…

Volumes of work tend to dictate the machinery requirement with high volume production from a lithographic press more suited to a Tower Collator fed unit into a stitch, fold and three knife trimmer. However, digital output is far more convenient and commonly produced in a collated sequence rather than individual sheets as a Lithographic press would produce. Paper Folding Equipment
Paper Folding Machines and Paper Folders for all budgets and requirementsA folding machine is a machine used primarily for the folding of paper. Paper can be folded with either a buckle or a knife; thus, there are generally three types of folding machines: buckle folders, knife folders or a combination of these two types. Whilst buckle folding is the more popular of the two methods, knife folding is sometimes preferable. Folding machine models vary in sophistication, with high-end machines capable of processing more complex folding jobs and unusual paper forms (in terms of density and size). Organizations required to undertake mass mail-out campaigns often employ folding machines to improve efficiency.Buckle Plate Paper Folding MachinesBuckle folders work by feeding the paper at high speeds until it can move no further; the reaction of the paper is to buckle. High friction rollers then grip the paper and push it through, folding the paper, which is squeezed between the rollers, in the process. Attached rubber provides the rollers with the required grip. The front edge of the paper is then finally placed into a “pocket”—a result of the rollers pressing together with the aid of a spring.Knife Folding MachinesA knife…

Crease Fold Machines (Digital)
Crease and Fold Machines for all Budgets and RequirementsCard Creasing has become an important part of the Print and Craft industries since the Digital Print revolution. Digital print engines create the images using a mixture of toners and oils which are applied to the media by a selection of rollers and heat. As a result the images are often very clear and precise but the material is dry and brittle meaning that if the document is then folded it causes toner cracking along the folded spine, this is both unsightly and completely ruins the image.Unlike traditional water based inks such as those found in Lithographic print applications where simple scoring wheels can be used to iron out any damage to a folded spine a digital print requires a bit more care and caressing in order to reach the required finish. This is where Card Creasing machines step in with an important process. Creasing the cards, a crease actually forms and shapes the media similar to the shape of a human lip, stretches the paper fibre and the toner into a channel, scoring merely crushes a line in to the card. As the card fibres are now stretched in the channel…
Pharmaceutical Folding
Pharmaceutical folding also known as Miniature Folding or Mini Folding is a specialised folding method that reduces a large sheet into a very condensed size. Miniature folding is important to product manufacturers because it provides a cost effective way to fit a great deal of printed information into a tight space or small package.Miniature folding or Pharmaceutical Folding uses a relatively light weight of paper, usually around 70gsm. This is because light paper folds easier, lies flatter and develops less bulk. But light paper is not that easy to print upon, so few printers have the means to do it, hence why many Pharmaceutical companies opt to keep this in house along side a traditional style Duplicator or DuPrinter. Many industries other than the Pharmaceutical sector employ miniature folding machines, basically anywhere that a small package is being put together that requires instructions will require some sort of miniature folding device. They are particular common within component manufacturers for switches and electrical items as well as jewelry production, personal electronics and toys as well as health and beauty products.

Digital Laminating Machines
The Need for Digital Laminating MachinesAs a consequence of Digital Print Engines, digital laminating has increased over the past 10 years. Traditional style laminating films and roll digital laminating machines could not cope with the required output from digital print engines due to the way the machines applied inks and toners to the media.Changes in paper types and stocks also took place around the same time with coated and gloss stocks becoming more popular when used with digital print output. These changes to the market lead the film and machine manufacturers to develop new specialist machinery, films, and techniques to enable the laminating process to evolve, creating much improved digital laminating machines! Film such as Ultra Bond was introduced to the market and was quickly supported by the print machinery manufacturers as partner products guaranteeing adhesion to their print outputs.During this period machinery also changed dramatically with manufacturers introducing digital laminating machines aimed at the short run markets with unique abilities such as sleeking and foiling possible on a single print if needed. Traditional foil stamping where you need to manufacture specialist die tools could easily be replaced whilst offering the exact same effect for a fraction of the cost. Achieve…

Saddle Stapling Machines
Saddle Stapling Machines and Saddle Wire Stitching MachinesSaddle stapling or saddle stitching as it is also known, refers to a very popular book binding method in which folded sheets are gathered together one inside the other and then stapled through the fold line with wire staples. Known as saddle stapling due to the way in which it reflects saddling a horse, the document being stapled is hung over the saddle before being stitched. There are a number of machines available that achieve this style of stapled outcome and they are available in both manual or more heavy duty electric models. The most common machine on the market is probably the Rapid 106 which replaced the popular 101, these bench mounted solutions offer a quick, reliable and easy way to produce saddle stapled documents. Foot Treadle Stapling Machines
Foot Treadle Stapling Machines and Industrial Stapling MachinesTreadle Stapling is a term used to describe a foot operated heavy duty stapling device, as oppose to using power or a lever for your arm some heavy duty machine incorporate a foot treadle so you can press through the item being stapled with ease and free up both hands.Treadle staplers are often used in manufacturing or where thicker documents or pads are being produced but you don’t have the volumes to require a fully powered machine. Alternatively because no power is required to operate these machines they are often found in warehousing as they can be used anywhere within a building.Treadle staplers offer both flat pad and saddle stapling so are very versatile and heavy duty, they remove any pressure requirements or repetitive strain injuries on arms as it is far easier to operate using your foot. They are particular useful for larger quantity thicker documents as they are so easy to push to staples through the sheet with your body weight.
Wire Stitching Machines
Wire Stitching Machines and Industrial Stapling MachinesStitching machines is a term used to describe a machine that stitches together paper or media using a flat or round wire. Unlike a stapling machine where the staples are normally preformed and you have various size legs for different thickness applications, stitching machines form the stitch or staple and the thickness can be adjusted to suit the document. Stitching wire is sold on a reel and the machine pulls the required length from the reel, forms the stitch/staple and passes it through the document before closing the stitch in the back.Stitching machines offer a higher level of versatility than traditional stapling machines and in many cases offer the ability to bind together much thicker documents with up 30mm thickness possible on some machines. Because you don’t need staples the running costs are also much lower with a reel of wire capable of producing up to 50,000 stitches the cost per book is minimal and much lower than even the lowest cost staples.Stitching machines like the heavy duty…
