In 1947 William N Lane and two partners founded General
Binding Corporation (GBC) to meet the binding equipment needs of Chicago's many
printers. The company quickly took off and introduced the Combocomb bindingmachine in 1960 to make mechanical binding accessible to the masses. A few
years later, in 1966, the table top laminator was introduced to make laminating
more accessible as well. GBC continued to innovate and grow by launching a
shredder business in 1973 and expanding in to visual communication in 1996.
Today, GBC has a full range of quick, easy and complete document finishing
solutions to meet all business needs.
In addition, GBC has a strong presence in the wide format
graphics market providing a comprehensive line of products used to create
signs, banners, point of purchase displays, window graphics and much more. This
includes heat assist, dual heat as well as cold laminating solutions.
The GBC Magna Punch is one of the most commonly used punch
machines on the UK market.
