A Creative Design Company in Cheshire Further Expands with an Obeli & Ideal Purchase from The Finishing Point

A fresh & vibrant print company housed in the heart of Cheshire has approached The Finishing Point for help in upgrading their in-house equipment and essentially increasing productivity without having to recruit. The company offers a new approach to digital and wide format print and by housing the latest in large format, digital printing and finishing technology, they are able to provide a range of dynamic solutions for all retail, industry, commercial & domestic applications.

The Issue

The traditional finishing equipment impedes on quality whilst the new Xerox Versant offers excellent print quality
Slow and labour intensive finishing techniques holds back production
Manual paper guillotines are not able to cope with the demand
The company has a requirement to regularly cut SRA2 sheets and SRA3 landscape sheets
The new digital press opens up new print streams but the companies finishing machines were outdated
Finally the company regularly turned work away due to its inability to complete certain finishing tasks such as perforating

The Challenge

The company already produced a high end product so our main challenge was to add value to this whilst increasing productivity internally without the need for staff recruitment. To achieve this we needed to supply powerful machinery which was small enough to fit in a tight, compact room. By doing so, the company would be able to access lucrative markets such as greeting cards without busting the budget.

The Solution

Having spoken with Mat (who you can see in the image) on numerous occasions with regards to upgrades and how best to complete certain tasks it was clear he knew the direction he was going to take - the difficulty was making him stay still long enough to show him the The Finishing Point Effect!

Mat was keen on exploring as many avenues as possible in order to add new revenue streams to his business, as a result we arranged a morning at our Cheshire Showroom to demonstrate our new range of finishing equipment and paper guillotines. We demonstrated everything we had to show, including the latest Near PUR perfect binding machines, compact low cost booklet makers, paper guillotines including the Gemini & Ideal Range as well as our new creasing range and our traditional wire binding machines from Renz. It took up most of the day but it did show a complete array of what is possible with our equipment.

After careful negotiation and calculation of space requirements Mat opted for an EasiCrease Europa HF, an Ideal 4855 Paper Guillotine and a Renz SRW360 Comfort Plus wire binder. These three items had immediate requirements and could be put to good use straight out of the box.

The Outcome

With the new machines, the company could achieve faster, easier and better production and could easily produced correctly creased cards thanks to the card creasing machinery
The company could also implement perforating functions in-house for the first time (a live perforating job came in the same day as the EasiCrease was installed - perfect timing!)
Faster transfers from flat sheets to finished products could also be achieved
The company now had the ability to bring in SRA2, reducing paper costs
The upgrades enabled the company to access new revenue streams with the new availability of creasing & perforating options
The machines also fitted perfectly meaning no working areas were lost
