Council Invests in New Digital Booklet Maker

A local council building which incorporates offices and a dedicated print room, has upgraded their booklet making facilities by investing in a new Duplo 150DBS digital booklet maker. Before the upgrade, printing was taken care of by 2 high volume digital print engines from Ricoh and booklets were being produced in collated order ready to be manually dropped in to a small offline booklet maker.
The Issue
- Streamlining their booklet production with a suitable solution but the client had no real knowledge of what is available
- The client relied on outsourcing higher volume runs, this can cause issues however as once outsourced, you lose control of the production process and power over meeting deadlines
- The advancement of new digital press was outrunning the clients current booklet maker
- Their current booklet maker was also producing poor quality booklets and the machine featured no trimming or square back
The Challenge
The challenge was fairly simple, we needed to enhance the council's in-house capabilities by supplying them with a booklet maker which would reduce or totally eradicate the need for outsourcing whilst at the same time, opening up new markets for the council print room. One thing that we did have to take into consideration was the size of the office, as we working with a very narrow corridor room.
The Solution
The team here at The Finishing Point assessed the local councils requirements in great detail and recommended a number of solutions that would fit their requirements perfectly. A demonstration was quickly arranged to show off the Duplo range and exactly what we could offer to solve their problems. The Outcome
- The Duplo 150DBS Booklet Maker provided the customer with automated digital booklet production which helped to streamline work flow as collated sets can now be ran directly from the press
- Since the installation, no work has been outsourced and no extra staff investment has been needed as the machine reduces work load
- The upgrade has also resulted in the council producing higher quality finished products
- We now have one very happy customer!
